The national evaluation is organised by the governmental Council for Research, Development and Innovation (RVVI) on the basis of the Methodology for the Evaluation of Research Organisations and Completed Programmes of Special Purpose Support for Research, Development and Innovation of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (M17+).Its objective is to comprehensively evaluate the research activities of all research institutions in the Czech Republic.
The evaluation is divided in five modules:
The evaluation of the quality of results (M1) and overall research performance (M2) is carried out annually.All five modules are evaluated together every five years by an international evaluation panel, which mainly evaluates modules M3–M5.
The first complete evaluation took place in 2020.The Charles University was awarded the best grade A (together with the Masaryk University, Palacký University in Olomouc and South-Bohemian University).
